I have an Optoma HD72, 720p projector. Having seen post where people were using the HD-A2 rev 1.5 at 1080i, I tried it too. Lettering on menus and that seal in the FBI warning on DVD's is much cleaner and smoother when 1080i is selected rather than 720p. So I was happy. But then I switched the HD-A2 back to 720p and I swear the actual movie seems to look much better at 720p than 1080i. The menu lettering is still nicer in 1080i, but I think the picture quality is better at 720p. Anyone else notice this?

Still images tend to look best at 1080i due to greater definition (plus simple deinterlacing). It could be the projector itself does a better job scaling a moving progressive image than de-interlacing and scaling a moving interlaced image. That would be my guess anyway.
