Hi sebbelcher,
I am in the same boat, have faith though it is possible
This thread at mediabrowser.tv shows that, but I still can't get it to work. I cannot even get Dolby digital out over HDMI from my 430gt to the TX-SR608. I have gone into the TX-SR608 setup screen and changed the source preferences to "straight-through" but all I get on the TX-SR608 screen is "multichannel" or "multichannel PCM". I have tried using MPC-HC with ffdshow, media center, TMT5 with updates, and Windows Media Player. I uninstalled all my codecs and started fresh this morning but still no go. On ffdshow using MPC-HC it shows the input is DTS-HD or Dolby True HD depending on the source, and the output says HDMI Bitstreaming, but I get no sound at all. I tried a different HDMI cable, no help.
I will try using the DVD Hdmi input instead of the PC input maybe that will help. Also I have tried switching the sound mode from direct to multichannel on the TX-SR608, enabling and disabling the "allow programs to take exclusive control" check box in the windows sound settings, neither setting made a difference.
Ill let you know if I figure it out.
