I'm currently using a STB with my analog television. I'm pleased with the quality of HD programming, as it looks way better than analog broadcasts and often rivals DVDs in quality. My question is this: if I get a DirecTV HD receiver and try to watch HDNet, will it output via the standard S-Video connection or does it require the component outputs?

If you set a D* HD receiver to output an S-video signal, it will still output all available channels including HDNet and the HD movie channels via S-video.

Not only will all HD channels output through S-Video but it will look pretty darn good even on an analog TV. You'll swear your watching true HD even though you really aren't.
