my apologies if this has already been discussed, but it's difficult to search for this specific question since HD playback on PCs is such a loaded topic.


With an HDCP card (7950GT) and HDCP monitor, can you play HD-DVD discs in full 1080p resolution on a normal DVD-ROM drive?

No, the drive won't be able to read the disc. You need an HD-DVD drive to read an HD-DVD disc.

okay. I was asking because I know HD-DVD content can be burned to a standard DVD.
