Hey,

In your opinions, what would really be the best deal for me. Let's leave aside the fact that I could play HD DVDs with the player. That's a given. As far as SD dvds (since I have about 300), are these players going to be about the same? Or will one be noticeably different from the other? I love a great looking SD movie and I want to make sure that it will look great even if i were to get an early gen HD DVD player.

I'm playing my dvds out of my xbox360 right now. Would both look remarkably better? I haven't had time to do a spec comparison yet.

thanks!

Hmmm ... $3,500 vs $500. Most people on the AVS forum indicate the A1 looks as good or better than even the 3910. Tough choice...

If $3,500 is not an issue, then buy an A1 and if you don't like, but the 3910 later.

First of all, the $3910 is at MAX $1500 , and easily found for $1200new/$800used. Secondly, I sold my 3910 the next day after getting an HD-A1,it's THAT good. Third, the 3930 is due out soon, with the new Realta chipset. Don't bother with the 3910.

FWIW, when I was considering getting the 2910 or the HD-A1, I got a few responses (here, on AVS Forum) of folks who said they got rid of their 3910 (and a lot of people who got rid of their 2910) after buying the HD-A1...oh, and add overcast to that list. ;)

If you want a 3910, I have one for sale in mint condition. I just haven't listed it yet on Audiogon!

For $3500, you must be thinking about the 5910.

The A1 upscale SD-DVD movies better than my 3910 for sure. I keep it just because I need a SACD and DVD-A player/transport.
