Does anybody know if the new Digital Video Essentials HD-DVD / DVD has 6.1 audio on the HD side? What about AVIA II?

Nobody knows details on this? I emailed the DVE folks

I have the DVE combo disc. It has 6.1 DD and 6.1 DTS on it. I'm glad I bought the disc, but it can be "challenging" to use.

Thanks. Could you do a test for me? Could you run the 6.1 DD test and use PCM over the HDMI output of your HD-DVD player to the HDMI input on your receiver and let me know if your receiver is picking up a 6.1 MPCM signal over HDMI?
So far everybody tells me that no HD-DVD player exists that outputs higher than 5.1. No 6.1/7.1 from an HD-DVD player.

That's incorrect. The players that pass bitstream data will certainly pass 6.1/7.1. There is no HD DVD player with > than 5.1 INTERNAL decoding.

Sorry, cant help you there, I have a 5.1 setup.
Pan's Labyrinth has DTS-HD MA 7.1 on it... unless you're only looking for a benchmark disc.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I meant that there are no HD-DVD player with >5.1 decoders outputting MPCM of 6.1 or 7.1 over HDMI. I am trying to test if my receiver will accept a 7.1 MCPM signal over HDMI. The Marantz SR9600 changed mid production and later units do accept 7.1 MPCM over HDMI but some earlier units may not. I tried 5.1 PCM and it works fine. I would like to try 7.1. I have no Blu-Ray player at the moment. Was going to wait until the PS3 did DTS-MA or wait for the Panasonic BD50 (if they fix the low level LFE issues).
