I was reading news today and found information regarding a tool for HD DVD Backup. After finding the source, it looks like users are storing HD DVD's to their media servers.

I hope it works. I'd love to backup my movies to a NAS. This is reason enough for me to jump on the HD Bandwagon. Sorry Sony.

There are other threads on this...

Yes HD-DVD seems to have been cracked... for now...

Many are curious to see if the keys are revoked and what will happen.

HDDVD is not realistic for NAS storage at the moment due to file size. Each movie is about 30GB. So 30 movies per TB... Don't know about you but I would not spend close to $1000 for less then 100 movies...

I have 1.6TB right now and currently have 272 movies... Just think if I tried to convert to HDDVD... I would need 9+TB of storage lol

Maybe in a year or 2 when 1-2TB drives come to market HD DVD may be somewhat viable for NAS storage but even then it would be better to just get a 100 disk HDDVD player.
