Updated...and added more pictures

Firmware is now: 1.2/T17M (see updating5.jpg)

Updating took about 35 minutes, but i guess it depends a bit on the speed of you internet connection.

Haven't found any improvements yet, but i guess lots of bug fixes...

lol, ok, I was hoping that was the case but nowadays, I just think people will say anything that could possibly be construed in anyway.

Hopefully the Euro update means N.A. isn't far away...

HD-XE1 is not yet available in Europe, so no 24p... Also it was said the 24p will come later... (and only on XE1).

firmware 1.2:

- No new settings available after update

+ Load times a bit faster than before

+ Faster response times within settings menu

I think there are only improvements in load times and speed. Maybe some other unknown bugfixes.

I hadn't any issues with the old firmware. So I can not say what was fixed or improved. Only things I saw were faster response times and loading times for HD DVD are a bit less.

I'm not sure: But I think the quality of upconverted standard DVDs is a little bit better than with 1.1.

I hope Toshiba will tell us what were fixed with that update.

Is it possible to just download the update to my computer, burn it as an image file to cd-rom and then update the player from there? I'm just not getting the Ethernet connection to work, and this seems to be an alternative way of updating that has been used before on the A1 model.

Does anyone know if this will work on the E1, and if yes how to obtain the update file? The manual doesn't mention this option at all so I'm not setting my hopes that high. Anyone has some info on this?

I'm pretty sure we can download and burn the firmware. But there are no announcements yet on a tosh website. So you'll have to wait.

As I said: I'm not sure which bugfixes and improvements they made. The Tosh is running same as before. A little bit better I think.

According to some insiders it is suposed to fix :

- CUE bug on SD DVD

- Black Cruch on HDMI to DVI link

- Some HDMI troubles when linked to some DVI display

I assume the first two are pretty easy to check (unfortunately I'm away from my long awaited player and cannot check until end of next week
).
