Our workshop has removed the bonnet and taken a look at the technology used within the casing of the HD-E1 by toshiba. This has revealed some interesting findings in the similarity to the HD-A2 sold in USA. The processor is that of Intel Celeron M900. But, of particular interest is the HD DVD Drive by Toshiba, model SD-E802A, very similar to the xbox360 add on drive model SD-S802A. We believe that these drives are region locked for standard dvd.

The Reon chip is in the XA2 and probably also the XE2 -- not the entry level players.

Dunno for the A2, but it's "more than cousin" E1 here in europe, perfectly read NTSC DVDs (assuming they are not region locked)...
