Has anyone tried using a SiliconDust HD Homerun across a wi-fi connection? I suspect the connection isn't stable enough, at least not with 2.4 MHz (wi-fi G/N) like all the neighbors use. Maybe a new 5.8 MHz "N" link?

HDHomeRun wired connection to switch, GB-PVR or Vista MC client on laptop via 802.11g wireless. HD streams sometimes work, sometimes not. Very temperamental. Moving the laptop by just a fraction can cause a break in streaming.


The problem with wifi is it's subject to a lot of interference. If you consistently get good signal, then great. If you live in an apartment and all your neighbors have wifi, tough luck.

I'd recommend going with MoCA (ethernet over coax). It can coexist on the same lines as cable tv and cable modem data. If you are comfortable with some basic router setup, you can buy some used FIOS routers for about $30/per and convert them to bridges.
