I live in a city where OTA HDTV is unavailable. I've got DirecTV, and my CBS station gave me a waiver to receive the NY/LA feeds of CBS (channels 380/381). I know I would need an HDTV receiver and an oval dish, but does anyone know if DirecTV broadcasts HD content on these channels?

DIRECTV does not provide CBS in HD on their system. Only Dishnetwork provides a national CBS HD feed.

DIRECTV has only HBO HD on 509 and HDNET sports programming network on 199 during the day and it then turns into a Pay per View HD channel during the late night hours.

Sorry,

Jeff

A salesman at Best Buy in Cincinnati (out of my Nielson market, but where DTV locals are available) told me that the DTV locals are simulcast in HD (depending on content, of course). Was this incorrect?

Note: This should be painfully obvious, but is worth stating anyway: I trust the postings on this forum _FAR_ more than I trust anyone at BB.
