And how many of these titles have/are going to be released with wm9? Is this just a demo thing, or will more titles have a wm9 addition?

Just a gimick to sell DVDs and promote the WM9 format.


Of course it won't play on a standard DVD player- You'll need a PC or a new DVD player that supports WM9 and has 6 discreet outputs for full surround.


On top of this, are the DVD/WM9 players going to support 1080i and 720p, let alone 1080p? I seriously doubt it.

Yes they do. Microsoft has some 720p WM9 demos on their Windows Media website.


This topic has been covered ad nauseum on this forum , the PC forum and the digital software forum (specifically the T2 thread).


There are already several members of this forum who use this encoding method for HD.
