I just got the Sony HD-100 receiver. I've basically only heard bad things about this box and great things about the RCA box. I had this, but had to take it back because my TV doesnt have the 15 pin jack. But I found out that I can by a vga to component converter. If I went with the RCA I could save about 100 bucks... But I have a Sony TV and they of course recomend their box. Can anyone offer me some advice on which box to go with?

Thanks.

The VGA to Component transcoder is about 100 bucks, so there goes your price difference. However, the difference in price between the RCA and Sony should be more like $300, the RCA should retail for around $499, while the Sony is usually $799.

Furthermore, given the software problems still inherent in the HD100, you should probably take a serious look at the RCA, or the Panasonic TU-HDS20 which supports both Component HD and RGB HD with no need for a transcoder.
