Okay I am new to this forum and wanted to contribute what I have done in the past 2 weeks. I just built a new 80x50 screen for my new Sony VPL-VW11HT. By the way I bought the VW11HT from Japan for $5790. I paid a bit too much howver, thats the price for early adopters I guess. (I read some forums earlier that it was cheaper sob :-( )
ANyways back to the screen. It was made from stretcher bars from Art store. 80x50 bars with Primed Canvas. Bought stretcher pliers to stretch and staple. After that I got 2.5" x 85" x 1" pine and covered it with Cotton fabric in Black. Basically it was a staple job. Wrapped the black 2.5" border around the screen with L shaped brackets and I am in business. It came out pretty nice and professional looking.
I am debating if I should color the screen Grey, since the projector has cinema black mode which shows blacks pretty decent and white is not too bright. Attached are some pix.
ALl I need now is a projector mount...debating if I should build that or spend the 370 clams.
