About two months ago, every few days my Toshiba DST-3000 had too weak a signal on HBO HD & HDNet to have picture and sound. I have a Samsung 160 in another room off the same satellite feed and it would have the same problem.

FOund out that DirecTV moved these channels to transponder 24 of Satellite 119, and that my problems occurred after that move.

Two weeks ago, I replaced the Toshiba with a HD TIVO.

The HD TIVO never has too weak a signal on these channels.

Last night and this morning, the Samsung wasn't receiving these channels. But the HD TIVO was receiving them perfectly!!!

Thumbs up for the HD TIVO, a great machine and I've had no issues with it at all.:D :D :D

May have to reorient the dish a tad though for that other Samsung 160 reciever.

The HD TiVo has had two major issues: audio dropouts (particularly on HDNet) that spoil recordings (sound disappears and doesn't return), and lack of ability to stretch 4:3 material on OTA and D* high definition channels so that it fills the screen of a 4:3 display without pillars on either side of the picture.

One can only hope that these issues will be resolved soon via a software upgrade.
