The HD-Xa2 has made not one but two price jumps recently at Amazon, I got mine for 519$ from a 5/5/07 order date, delivered yesterday, then it went to 573$, now its 593$.

Considering the high-end upscaling chip in this unit, the 519$ price did seem like a steal to me, considering there was no tax and no shipping and you get the 5 free hd-dvds.

I am sure Robert at VE, whom I got my HD-A1 from probably has more stable pricing and perhaps now the best price... this is just a heads up the dealers may have been selling this unit to cheap, or below or close to cost.

This just all makes me wonder if the price is going to keep rising at some or all dealers and why.

I wonder how often these sales ranking lists are updated?

Don't complain. How's $999.00 in Canada for you? That's what I paid a week ago.

In Japan HD-XA2 still costs $900-1100.

The price difference between US and Japan is $400-$500 and it's absolutely atrocious.

Yikes, but can you purchase from Amazon U.S.? Perhaps you could purchase from another dealer in the U.S. if Amazon won't ship up to Canada for you?

I tried. They don't ship to Canada. On top of the fact any tech equipment brought across the border voids the warranty.

I agree, I buy most of my hd stuff from them. Between the discounts, being a prime member, and no tax no shipping its the best consistent deal I could find.

My gut feeling is that we have seen the end of the low price for the X2.

Toshiba has lower price models that can be discounted to move through the Holidays, and those prices will be way lower then what they could do for the X2. But that's just my opinion, I hope I'm wrong

I wonder if a new round of price cuts is coming, with the rebates just announced. We will see, looks like your gut feeling may be right.
