HD2+ & HD3 quality in Front Projectors

Folks,

I've been following the expected release of the Samsung 04 models with the new HD2+ and HD3 chipsets and read alot of posts where people are wondering about the quality of the black levels and different the 7 segment color wheel will make. My question is, hasn't HD2+, HD3 and the 7 segment wheel already been released in Front projection units and can people compare them in those units to get a feel for how they'll perform in a rear projection unit?

I'm one of those people who would buy the Samsung DLP today if I didn't think the new chipsets would be worth it, but everybody seems to be waiting to see how they perform. Isn't there something to be learned from the Front Projectors already on the market or are they to different in their application?

Thanks

There is no HD3 in front projection. There is HD2 and HD2+, the latter being impressively better.

With the HD2 you may see a gray haze over a dark scene and some color (green) abberations. The HD2+ is supposed to relieve this problem, but for rptvs it is uncertain how much will be resolved. If you're thinking about getting one of the HD2 televisions, take some test disk Test Disks with you to compare the difference between HD3 (same as HD2) and HD2+. That is the only way you can tell if there is a diff to you.
