Hello, so I just hooked up my HDDVD player to my Sony Z9D and wanted to make sure the picture settings on the HDDVD player are correct. There is an enhanced black level setting on or off. There is also an RGB Output Range setting, Standard or Enhanced. I want to make sure those 2 settings match my TV but not sure which is correct. Is anyone familiar what the correct setting is? I been going back and fourth but it’s difficult because the player starts the movie all over again instead of resuming ugh 🤨

For enhanced black level, there are many variables depending on your equipment and your brightness settings so there is no one right answer. I suggest getting a title with a lot of dark scenes with detail in them. Try both settings and see which shows more detail in the dark scenes.

As for RGB standard or enhanced, to set this correctly you have to match what the display device expects. TVs usually expect RGB 16-235 (standard) and computer monitors typically expect RGB 0-255 (enhanced). These two RGB range settings are also often called "video" and "PC". The goal is to match the display device, so that there isn't a mismatch in RGB range. If both the player and the TV are selectable, then you want to select 16-235/standard/video for both of them since that's how the source material is encoded.
