I posted this in the HDFury Vertex owners thread, but realize I put it in the wrong thread as it's about a Vertex 2. So I'm posting it here also.

I leave my HD Fury on 24/7 since it doesn't have any sort of IP controlled power on / off features. Do most people do this or do they rig up some sort of power trigger?

My HDFury has an RS4500 and NX5 hooked up to its output HDMI ports. Last night, I was watching the RS4500 then powered on the NX5. As soon as I powered on the NX5, I got an HDMI event and the screen resynced (even before the projector showed picture). While waiting for the NX5 to come on (it takes 30-45 seconds), I powered off the RS4500. Around this time, the DILA logo showed up and the NX5 came up. There was another resync.

After this, I was looking at PC desktop and the text seemed to quickly jump very slightly maybe every 10 seconds. At first it was hard to notice but pretty soon I was somewhat tuned into seeing it happening. Also, there was a flicker in the left top corner of the screen which seemed to be about 1 frame long every 20 seconds or so.

I finally got into the HD Fury web GUI and rebooted the HDFury. After this, everything worked great.

So my questions are, does anyone have any data on what caused the above and suggestions on how to avoid the above? Do you guys leave your devices on 24/7? Most my system is heavily IP control scripted. Even switching projectors is an IP control switch which powers one projector on, waits 30 seconds and powers the other projector off. If HD Fury needs a reboot each time I could possibly script that as well - supposing it's part of the HD Fury IP control spec. It's there, I just checked "#vertex2 set reboot".

The hdfury is made for 24/7 operation. Most times it should not need a reboot. If you have issues export the config file so it can be reviewed.

Need help - I have no idea what I’m doing.

My setup is:
  1. Sony VPL-VW295ES
  2. Lexicon RV-9 AVR
  3. Apple 4K TV
My mission is to get Dolby vision on my projector and thought I could do this with the Vertex2.

Projector -> TX0 -> AVR (Output 1 ARC)

Apple 4k -> AVR (HDMI 1)

I plugged everything in and everything looks the same. I don’t see much of a difference. What am I doing wrong?

Thank you so much for any help and sorry for the dumb question.
We will continue support via email.

Nothing much you can do about the HDMI syncs. Except to avoid powering up the second projector while the first is displaying a picture. I get the same if I power on a 4K TV while the projector is displaying content, or vice versa.

I have never noticed the PC Desktop text to jump or flicker. I will try to take notice. I have my Windows desktop set to 4K23.

I leave HDfury devices powered up full time.

Here is my config file. Please let me know if you see anything that might caues the above. I realize a lot of events occur when one device is powered on and another device is powered down between both the AVR (on one end of the HD Fury) and on the HD Fury, itself. Probably also in the source.

As both of your projectors are JVC 4K HDR, you might try Custom EDID mode with EDID 11 instead of Automix.

Thank you. That's a great suggestion. I'll make that change now.

beginning to lose patience with this now. Everything now auto switches, however, when I have my PS4 connected it seems to randomly lose the picture (sometimes after a few seconds, other times after a few minutes) making it completely unusable. I even changed the settings on the PS4 to specific resolutions etc instead of ‘auto’ in case the PS4 was pushing changes causing my projector to lose the signal.
So far my experience of the vertex 2 has been exceptionally poor. I bought it in favour of a different switch/matrix because I’m already using the Arcana and thought things would be more reliable keeping to the same manufacturer; how wrong can you be?? Might have to try a different switch / matrix and flog the Vertex if there’s no obvious cause for losing the PS4 picture. 😡

You might also try changing HDCP VERSION: from Auto to 1.4 on the CONFIG tab. To possibly reduce some HDCP handshaking between the Vertex 2 and the two JVC projectors.

It's the player's responsibility to enforce HDCP and the Vertex will always report HDCP 2.2 compliance to the players even with HDCP VERSION set to 1.4. The display devices just accept whatever HDCP level they are presented with.

Sounds to me like your HDMI cable isn't up to the task.

Maybe, but they're all new and function fine for the Apple TV 4K and the Nintendo Switch and are above spec for the PS 4. I'll try swapping them today to see if it makes a difference in case I happen to have a faulty one among them.

What does the Vertex 2 report as input signal format when the dropouts occur?

4K isn't just 4K. There's 4K24, 4K60, 4K60 4:2:0, 4k60 4:4:4 all these require different amounts of HDMI bandwidth. All your cables could be deficient and only 1 device appears to have problems that doesn't rule out cables.

Hello. I switches from Vertex to Vertex 2 because of some instability on the JVC projector with 4K60 HDR. This is now fixed with Vertex2. Great so far. I used the Vertex as a splitter from my NAD M17. One input and two outputs. I have a funny problem with the TV which is on Port 0. Picture works stable in HLG so i don't think the problem is the HDMI cable. But on different settings (1080p50 or 4K) when i change the volume on the NAD the TV makes a HDMI handshake with the Vertex/NAD again... it's mostly the time by changing volume or muting. The TV is a LG OLED B6.

Any idea what can cause the problem? Firmware is 0.60 on Vertex 2.

Thanks a lot.
Regards,
Ben

4K isn't just 4K. There's 4K24, 4K60, 4K60 4:2:0, 4k60 4:4:4 all these require different amounts of HDMI bandwidth. All your cables could be deficient and only 1 device appears to have problems that doesn't rule out cables.
True, but a PS4 can't output 4K whereas the Apple TV 4K (obviously) does, so I would have thought that if the cables that the PS4 are using can't pass a stable image to the Vertex / Projector then there would be no chance of it happening with the Apple TV 4K, which is rock solid. Anyway, using the same cables connected straight from the PS 4 to the Arcana and then to the projector and I have no issues at all, so it appears that the Vertex 2 is definitely the weak point in the set up for some reason. I gave up trying to use the PS 4 yesterday and tried the Nintendo Switch instead and it works absolutely fine (as does the Apple TV) so there's either something specific about the PS4 that the Vertex 2 doesn't like or an issue with the HDMI port I'm plugging the PS4 into. I'll try it on one of the other ports to see if there's any change.
Is there a recommended EDID to use for the PS 4?

I suspect you may have CEC enabled on the tv or the appletv.
Post the config file for the vertex 2.
Also if you want to set an edid for the ps4 set a 1080p one if that is the highest resolution you send.
