Sorry if this has been posted before, searched but couldn't find an answer.

Built my own budget box with an AsRock A780Full HD (780g chipset) and an MSI radeon 4350 card.

Have a Pioneer vsx519 and a Vizio VX37L and a budget 5.1 speaker system (hell, everything I have is rock-bottom, let's face facts here)

Bottom line? I'm happy (imagine!) EXCEPT no audio over the HDMI out from the 4350 card. This solution works in XP SP3, but NOT in Ubuntu 8.04.

I've got posts in over at Ubuntu, Newegg, and Phoronix fora with no result, which makes me wonder if I'm not posting enough useful info, overlooking something really simple, or just unrealistic about the features of my equipment.

Any response would be appreciated, if only to say it won't work.

Thanks for looking!

Point blank: you won't get anywhere with ATI/AMD video in Linux. It sucks hard, I know. You will need a recent Nvidia card (8xxx+) that supports VDPAU for video.

EDIT: Nevermind, this is an audio issue, and I'm an idiot

hehe, not an aa member either! thanx for looking; the video seems to be working just fine. I had been concerned about that, thought the audio would be just as easy WRONG!
