I have my pc hooked up to my Sony E42a10 via DVI into a manual switch box I got from monoprice. The picture is perfect! My cable box is also hooked up to the HDMI switch and that is where I get the buzzing. The pc gives out a heavy buzz but I have it hooked up to my reciever through the optical out so that buzz has been eliminated.
Could this be a ground loop problem? Should I get a ground loop isolator from Radio Shack? I could hook up the cable box to my reciever through the optical but I would like to be able to listen to the tv without running it through my reciever.
Thanks for the reply... well, I would check the cable coming into the house but I live in an apartment and don't have access to that area. Is there something I can get to make sure it's grounded at the point where it comes into my living room?
It's a ground block and will be near where the antenna enters the building. A case like yours will sometimes be due to disparities in cable lengths though. A ground loop isolator may be your best bet. The name Jensen is often mention around here for such a device.
