I was watching the Hangover blu-ray on my PS3 last night when my screen goes black. I was still receiving sound but no picture was coming in. I reset the ps3 video multiple times. Unplugged it and gave it time to cool. The composite out works just fine but the HDMI doesn't work at all. I ruled out the tv by checking all the other hdmi ports with my dvi to hdmi from the computer. Can an hdmi cable just die like that? I know its more than 4 years old but I thought they were very durable. I'm going to buy another cable tonight. I just hope its not the ps3 as its out of warranty already. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's probably the PS3 HDMI port and not the cable, unless the cable has visible damage or wear.

Did you check the TV HDMI ports or the Receiver HDMI ports?

I don't know if you have a receiver, but what about the PS3 HDMI to a different receiver HDMI port?

Thanks for the responses. It turned out to be a handshake issue. When I unplugged the tv and plugged it back in the ps3 showed up again. If this continues to be a problem with this set I'm going to have to return it for something else.
