Hi guys. I'm looking to get some HDMI cables for my Plasma TV. I visited monoprice, and I've noticed that for HDMI lengths up to 3 feet, the cables are simply rated as 1.3a. However, for HDMI cables above 3 feet, Monoprice have these listed as High Speed HDMI 1.3a Category 2 Certified. Is there a difference between these cables? Or is it just marketing for cables above 3 feet?

This is just a wag. Longer cables are more subject to picking up noise from their environment, so perhaps the longer cables have better shielding.

Unless you're absolutely sure 3 feet is long enough get cables at least 6 feet. These things seem to shrink very quickly when you try to hook them up. No need to pay a lot for HDMI cables.

Agreed. Spend the extra $1 or so and pick up the longer 6 ft cable. Plus the 3 footer might render itself worthless if you change your setup.

Well the only reason I might want to pick up a 3 foot cable is because, if there is excess cable, it'll stick out, and I want to hide my cables and wires as much as possible.

Any other info regarding the High Speed Category 2 Certification of HDMI cables at monoprice?
