Has anyone used this cable and then upgraded to a Monster HDMI and noticed a substantial difference?

Anyone?
I doubt it.
It's passing 0's and 1's. It either works or it doesn't. You're not going to get better PQ with a different cable.
Yea I purchased the HD960 and the sales con artist talked me into a $230.00 HDMI cable. He swore I would notice a difference and it was worth the money. So I went home tried the Samsung cable and the overpriced cable back to back. A few times with the cable box and the dvd player! I found no difference between the Samsung cable and the high priced one.

Thanks guys, interesting. I wonder when heavier shielded cables actually do make a difference. In our case is it because the amount of data being transferred is smaller then say a Bluray disc? Hmmm.

So apparently you were open to spending big dollars on a cable but didn't think that maybe putting the money into a better DVD player may offer more of a benefit?
The cable that came with the Samsung is fine. Save the money to buy something else. Don't fall for the Monster rip-off!!
I got my HDMI cable from a local PC store for $20 and they told me that they have a 200% markup on that cable. They believe that local B&Ms have a 1000 to 2000 % markup for the same quality cable.........

I think(in my opinion) I did get the better player! If I thought there was a better one out there for me I would have bought it regardless of price.

I'm just holding out to see what wins out... Blue ray or HD dvd. Now if a player comes out with both in one unit I'm all over it!!

Well, you were willing to spend another hundred or two for a digital cable while by the same token, you feel that a DVD player is only worth $100 investment at this point which is fine is you feel that way. However, you could get an "oppo" for $170 (which comes with a decent HDMI cable) and have arguably as good video as you can get and it will cost you less than your Samsung and expensive cable or just a little more than the Samsung itself. At least with the Oppo, you at will know that for the next year or so that you've done the best you can while you wait for the next generation. Just my 2 cents.

To me the "oppo" was not the best. True the pq might be slightly better but every time I would research them I would read about updates having to be loaded, glitches, do I get the 70 or the71?,and not passing something?. The Samsung has the same chip seemingly so the pq should be the same or close. The only draw backs were long loading time and a blue light on front. Plus I was connecting it to a Samsung 5073. I'm sure I could not tell a difference between the two as far as the picture quality goes but the plug and play was what I needed!

Oppo not the best, what are you nuts! :D Actually I agree with you but not too many others will, at the AVS forum if you don't have an Oppo hooked up with monoprice wire you are out of vogue. I still would rather have an Oppo and a cheap HDMI cable vs. a Samsung and an expensive HDMI cable.
