When displaying 1080p content on either my PS3 or Xbox 360 (HDMI for both), the red and blue primary colors switch in the video signal, making faces look blue and screwing up all other colors that include blue or red in them. In addition to the color switch, a vertical white/red/purple line appears at the extreme right edge of the screen. This doesn't happen when the consoles are connected directly to the TV (HDMI for both).

I have a Panasonic TH-42PZ80U Plasma TV and a Sony HT-SS2300 HTIB.

Could my HDMI cables be at fault (though they work fine when connected directly to the TV, all 3 of them)?

No, the cable can't do that. You probably have a communication problem where the devices are getting confused as to which colorspace is in use. Look into your display's menus and see if you can find a colorspace setting anywhere--sometimes that can be manually set, which will often resolve the problem.

My display has a color matrix setting that's grayed out. I haven't checked what it says while the issue is occuring but when its normal it shows HD for 720p/1080i/1080p and SD for 480p (it can be changed to HD when outputting 480p though).

Any ideas what I can do given that setting is grayed out for all HD resolutions?

That's not the colorspace; the colorspace setting should have options like "RGB" and "YUV" or "Y/Pb/Pr."

Taht setting is for the color matrix aka the color decoder. That's not what Kurt is talking about. All that sets is whether it decodes component as 601 or 709. If the setting is not available, then either the set doesn't allow you to choose manually what you want and it decides based on resolution, or it is unavailable because you are inputting RGB hence no color decoding to be done. It is mos tlikely the latter, since it makes no sense to include inaccessible controls for that merely as placebo...

You may need to set the colorspace output on the source device, or if it is sending RGB as I suspect, it may actually only output RGB from the source...

The problem only occurs with the HTIB and TV combined and I've tested the cables in every way possible. So, there appears to be an HDMI compatibility issue between the HTIB and the TV. I emailed Panasonic to see if a firmware update was available/possible but I have confirmed with Sony that my HTIB doesn't have firmware updates. My HTIB has been serviced for this issue before and it didn't do any good (HDMI board was replaced on receiver).
