My HDMI crashes my pc. I connect my laptop to a hdtv. The connection works fine for anywhere up to 10 mins. But then it shuts off the pc. I have a nvidia geforce 9800m gts. It used to work fine all the time then one day it just did this... anyone need any more info just let me know.

Could be thermal shutdown, if the additional output drives up the power usage (and heat output) just enough. This would assume it was dangerously hot to begin with.


Seeing as it's 9800M it could be affected by "bumpgate" as it's become known, basically defective / improper for the purpose materials used in the manufacture of the GPU (specifically the connection to the motherboard). Even if that's not causing straight up failure, these things run hot (even in laptop form).


Try a laptop cooler?
