HDMI IN from cable box

738 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  yegor
Im building a HT PC and I was hoping I could connect my HD cable box to the PC, so I could watch SD/HD TV in Windows. My cable box has DVI out, which I then convert to HDMI, and feed that into my PC via BlackMagic Intensity card. The question is.... will that work? I heard HD channels are encrypted in some places. Im located in Toronto, and my provider is Rogers.

You need to use FireWire on the cable box to record from. The firewire signal is an MPEG stream that your computer can record.

Many channels are encrypted not all.

I used to use this way, now I use the HDHomeRun which is much better, not sure if it works in Canada though
