Hi Everyone,

I've constantly been calibrating my Samsung LN40A530 for the past 6 months, and I stumbled upon the free HD calibration suite that's in one of the AVS forums. Great stuff in there, but I have a quick question about calibrating black levels. Do I perform the adjustments with the HDMI level settings on my LCD or on my sources (PS3 and Xbox 360)? As in do I set my PS3 to full or limited, or my TV at normal or low when calibrating? Or should I be taking both into account? I'm pretty new at this stuff, so I'm trying to learn how to do these DIY calibration processes properly. Thanks.

limited is right for the xbox and ps3.

I'm not familiary enough with samsung to know for sure, I think I saw a report that they got labeled somewhat backwards, so low is actually video levels and normal expects PC levels.

I hate how everything has to be so hard, but everybody wants to interoperate with PCs.

Hi sotti,

Thanks for the advice. I'll set my PS3 and 360 HDMI levels to limited and standard, respectively, then set my TV's HDMI level to low, which darkens the blacks according to its description and calibrate from there.
