I have an Onkyo 605 and Sony S350. (will hook it all up this weekend). Can I matrix 5.1 to 7.1 without a downside? Or, do I go back to 5.1 till more 7.1 BDs are available? It seems a shame to waste the effort I put into the 2 extra speakers, but I do want first class audio. (its all HDMI 1.3)

Unfortunately, the Onkyo 605 can't apply PLIIx processing to lossless audio (nor to the new hi-rez lossy audio codecs). To convert 5.1 channels to 7.1, you need to select the legacy DD or DTS tracks. So unless you plan on changing receivers (e.g., the new Onkyo 606), you'll have to choose between 5.1-speaker playback for lossless audio or 7.1-speaker playback for lossy audio. Personally, I would prefer the latter: the advantages of 7.1 over 5.1 make a bigger difference to me than lossless over lossy. YMMV.
