work with apple tv? As i see you plug your hdmi plug into the wall. That signal get send via 2 cat 6 cables where?
There is a user manual (PDF) linked on that product's page. But to answer your question, you are correct -- the signal would get sent to the other outlet -- and you'd plug your TV into that. The user manual has a nice visual diagram of the setup that may help you!

Yes, but why? The ATV is cheap, and is almost as easy to hide. Even if you have to add an IR repeater you're better off just placing the ATV at the display location instead of dealing with the hassle of the extender...

perfect....is there any way to do this without actually using wall plates?
