I have discovered that my Sony KDF-42We655 suddenly has a problem displaying region-encoded DVD input via HDMI. Apparently HDMI must have some security built in to it as I can display with no problems unencoded DVD output. I have 3 different sources, none of which will now play: TIVO netflix streaming video, Blu-Ray, and region-encoded DVDs. Are there any HDMI experts out there who can verify that such security intelligence is built into the protocol and what to do about it. E.g., is is easy to replace the HMDI input on the unit? I don't believe it to be the cables as I have tried 3 of them.

TIA, Paul

Unclear by your post- You don't get picture/sound from any hdmi source device, right? Probably replacing the "P" board will fix it. It is only $100 part# A-1068-754-A encompassparts.com login as guest & search

Since the OP can play "unencoded DVD output" I suspect that that he has an HDCP problem with DRM protected content and if this is the case he should try using a component interface instead of a HDMI interface.
