hdmi scaler

Hello,

I don't know if I am in the right section for this, but what kind of quality would I get if I connect a hdmi scaler to my satellite receiver?

The input signal would be s-video, and output would be hdmi that would feed my receiver.

The goal would be to get 720p or 1080i output to get a better picture quality on my TV (HD)... would also allow to reduce the number of cables I have since I have 2 hdmi inputs on the receiver.

Would a scaler do a good job for that?

If the input is SD 480i then you the best you can get is 480i blown up to a higer resolution bu duplicating or otherwise inventing the extra pixels required for 720p or 1080i which normally looks worse then a good old 480i TV would look in the first place.

Actually, you'll get more feedback in the "Video Processors" forum.
