I would like to put a HDMI splitter (1 in 2 out) on my digital TV cable box. One output would go to my Onkyo (TX-NR708) receiver and the second would go to my Samsung (PC8000) 3D TV. The receiver would connect to HDMI 2 on the TV and the Cable box on HDMI 1 on the TV. All components are within a few feet of each other.

This way I can watch TV directly from the cable box, or if I want better sound I can watch TV through the receiver.

would someone recommend a splitter that would work well in this configuration?

Thank you,

Jon

Happy to recommend/supply a suitable 1x2 HDMI Distribution Amp (see below) – though I don’t think you need one as your AVR has HDMI Standby Passthru function which you enable in the User settings, with this set to On and the Cable box selected you get Video and Audio on the TV when the AVR is in Standby.

You may want/need to add an Optical cable between the Source and the AVR to allow you to listen in 5.1 (via the AVR) and 2.0 when direct to the TV.
