Trying to figure out a way to activate my basement setup. Tried searching extensively but nothing quite matches my problem. I have an Onkyo 606 using the hdmi out which is upconverting my digital cable at 1080i and my PS3 at 1080p to my Epson 1080P projector.

I have a 19" Sharp LCD at the bar 40 feet away that I want to simulateously display the same audio/video. If I get an HDMI splitter what will happen if I connect 1 output to my 1080i 19" LCD and the other to the 1080P projector? Will they both operate at 1080i? Is there a way to keep my projector always running a 1080p picture and 1080i and the 19" LCD?

Main goal is to have same source on PJ and LCD without downgrading PJ to 1080i. Any help or comments would be a big help. Couldn't find a 19" LCD at 1080p.

Thanks

Yes, any splitter I know of will limit you to the highest resolution supported by both displays, in this case 1080i. That very likely isn't actually a problem; if the source material was recorded at 1080i, it's not going to look any better displayed at 1080p, and the display is probably doing exactly the same line-double job that the PS3 would be doing.

yup. you get 1080i in your scenario.

imo, it's not likely that the de-interlacing in the avr is any better than that in the projector... so it's not really a downgrade (especially for cable tv)...

Ok, so if I have the 19" LCD turned off, the PJ will revert back to 1080P? I just want to be sure that I can still enjoy 1080P movies on the PJ as long as the LCD is turned off.

Also, will the Sharp 19" be able to handle a signal coming from the PS3 even if the PS3 is set to display 1080P? Or would I have to change the settings on my Onkyo or PS3 each time to use 1080i whenever the LCD was turned on?

Thanks

if you have them both on at the same time, you may have to force a re-sync by turning them both off and then turning the pj on... that's one of those "you'll have to try it" things... too many variables involved to know what it will do for sure...

fwiw, you are going to get 1080p from your projector no matter what you give it... it's going to convert everything to it's native resolution...

my gut tells me you'll have to reset the output resolution from your sources, since your prior posts indicate that the lcd will not accept a 1080p (otherwise it would sync at that, and you wouldn't have any issues)...
