I need help. I just bought my wife a new LCD and finished the wall mount. Purchased a 16' HDMI cable and ran it to the new display. Now I need to source the new LCD of the existing Directv box in my MS Bedroom. I picked up an HDMI splitter from Tiger Direct. Plugged the cables into the 1/2 convertor and picture displays on both flat panels, but the audio goes away. I tested the new cable and it does work with picture and sound but only when the other flat panel is connected. Same with my original flat panel. So HDMI splitter is working in the sense that it provides picture but does not do the sound!

Does anyone know where I can buy an HDMI splitter for my application that will work Please?

Thanks BRI1270. Ironically I was searching Monoprice last night and found the same one.

Bad news... it's out of stock. They have a 1x4 but it's 70 so I'm debating if I should spend the extra money and buy that one?

Hmm, 70 bucks is still not bad. Wonder why there is such a diffrence in price with some of the other brands of splitters. I have seen some with Optic connections for the sound.

Anyway, Would you guys agree if I decided to hook up another TV so i could have 2 TV's ( Not being used at the same time) that I could hook one up with the HDMI and one with the Component cables ( of coarse connected to my Denon 3808) I dont see why that wouldent work?? Any thoughts?

Thanks guys!!

Do you mean it works when both are connected throught the splitter and turned on, but you get no sound when one of the flat panels is turned off? If so you may have a handshake problem and those can be difficult. A different splitter may or may not work.

You know I'm not sure what I meant when I wrote that! I do know that I tested the new cable I bought and it worked fine. With the splitter connected, neither TV had audio but had picture. I read alot of bad reviews that complained about similar problems regarding the non-powered splitters like mine.

I'm taking that one back to Tiger Direct. I'd like to buy that 1x2 splitter at Monoprice but they're out of stock and I'm not sure I want to spend 70 for a 1x4 splitter when I only need 2 outputs?

Yeah i went on Monoprice, price seems to be the best, but out of stock. I did see they make some with a remote control. Does anyone know if you had a High speed Remote if you can make it so your say Amp remote will be able to do the switching. I think that would be perfect rather than having to switch it manually or use another remote.

I was using the cheap cables but I don't see where that would have been the problem. It's a digital signal. Should be on or off. Already took that 20 splitter back to tiger and ordered the 1x4 splitter from Monoprice. It was double the price of the 1x2 splitter price but will be well worth it if it works good and I don't have to manually switch the outputs (I hope)!

You've been a Huge help! Thanks!
