Tried searching but no definitive answer. I haven't used video upconversion in an AVR for years because I don't use any analog sources anymore.

But wondering if a new AVR with HDMI to HDMI upconversion will improve the picture quality of a HD Dish feed and Amazon/Netflix? Or is it only for SD sources sent over HDMI like an SD tv channel? Thanks

Not HD no ... but SD possibly, but this depends on the quality of video chip in the AVR ... but in most cases ... most current model TVs will have just as good of a video upscaling capability. However, to minimize delay in switching channels with different resolutions, you'll likely want to set the Dish box to a single resolution (eg. 1080i or 1080p).

Ok I see. Was hoping it could improve compressed HD channels or Amazon videos. Thanks.
