i have 3 hd channels. hbo and showtime are very comparible as far as picture quality.

hdnet is at least a step or two above.

why is that?

#1:

HBO & SHO transmit at
HDnet uses the full 19.3Mbit/sec

#2:

HBO & SHO are 99% film converts

(analog film telecined to digital tape)

HDnet is 95% HD-video

(direct digital recordings)

Probably because alot of HDNET's programming is sourced from HD camera's, not shot on film transferred to HD video. Also it may be because HDNET has less compression than HBO or Showtime (this is speculation and could be completely wrong).

thx guys. i used google to find out that indeed the main reason hdnet looks so much better is because they're using hd camera's.

i also found out that live shows with hd cameras are even clearer.

i don't like soccer at all but i tuned to hdnet a couple of days ago and couldn't beleive the picture i was watching.

truly stunning, i don't think i could see any better with my own eyes.

thx again.
