The MPAA is exploiting public ignorance of their copy protection scheme AND exploiting the public's well estabished assumptions concerning a tv purchase.

When the consumer walks in to buy a new Sony HDTV or other brand with built in MPAA controls, the consumer has no idea of the amount of control the MPAA has over what he can see ie view once, downrez, copy once, etc.

The consumer WILL NOT BE ADVISED of this fact by the manufacturer or retailer. I propose that we lobby consumer protection agencies to require a WARNING on the new MPAA controlled products.

This could be a win win situation. If the warning is required, the public will know what is happening to them. If industry opposes the warning, the resultant publicity will warn the public.
