Question: Media Center setup went smoothly. All available channels were detected. SD channels work perfectly. When I select an HD channel (any HD channel) it appears on screen but the audio seems to get stuck in a loop for ~10 seconds, then I get a warning about a video error and that either Media Center or the computer needs to restart. Music plays fine as well. This is a brand new build that I just finished yesterday. What am I missing?

My hardware & software for troubleshooting purposes:

AMD Phenom 9950 2.6GHz

4GB 800MHz DDR2

Sapphire HD5770 stock w/Catalyst 10.2

Hauppauge 2250

Intel X25-M (OS drive)

WD Caviar Black 1TB (storage drive)

Win 7 x64 Home Premium

Viper AV suite

With HDMI through

Onkyo TX-NR906

Sony KDS 50A2000

are you setting windows sound to 5.1 or 7.1?

I have noticed things like this, and it seems to be WMC not able to switch between LPCM and DD gracefully.. however, disabling windows media center sounds seems to help alleviate the problem.

Windows media center Settings

Visual and Sound Effects

uncheck play sounds when navigating.

restart media center, and see if that works.

just a hunch, try different video drivers.
