Can I take the 18 by 24 DirecTV HDTV dish and run it into an 8 way multi switch? Who makes such a device? Is it a powered model? I want to hook up several DirecTV receivers, a combination of regular and HDTV units.
hi...check out spaun.com , or jayco.com.....these are comm'l suppliers of hi-grade multi switches; i use them on all hme thtre/ satellite installs on a week in week out basis ..... ........you MUST have a plus directv rcvr, and use it in conjunction w a 22khz signal/tone generating multiswitch (also a must), so that the the switch knows what satellite u are looking at , while changing channels at the receiver good luck
i just got a trunkline 5x8 switch for $140, which is about 1/3 of the price of a spaun 5x8.
Having it for so brief a time, and never having had a spaun, I can't say how it compares or whether it will hold up, but I can say that it worked just fine out of the box. FYI, it is a solid state switch, not a mechanical relay, so it's quiet, too.
