It's been great to have all the major Sacramento stations & affiliates to: NBC(KCRA-DT 35.1), ABC(KXTV-DT 10.2), CBS(KOVR-DT 13.1) & Fox(KTXL-DT 40.1) broadcasting now in HDTV & DTV-Upconvert & 16x9 SDTV(Fox) lately. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif

Many of us have been calling the Sacramento Bee (newspaper) and e-mailing TV Guide (Comcast Edition) to strongly suggest inclusion of the DTV formats and broadcast times in the Television listings too. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/wink.gif

It is also now the time to tell the right people http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/wink.gif at the different stations, that most (if not all?) of us are ready for 5.1 sound in the Sacramento Area. This is already common place in the Bay area.

Any thoughts?

Also, why is it that public television (KVIE 6) and WB (KQCA 58) are not on a DTV schedule? Anyone?

Since you mentioned it, we at KXTV had some budget money left at the end of last year. We used some of it to but the Dolby equipment for 5.1 pass through. We have the equipment and are in the process of installing it. There is still some work to do but unless unforeseen problems arise we should be sending 5.1 within a couple of weeks at most.

Last I checked, KVIE will wait to the last minute (2003), and I don't have info on channel 58. After the storms are over, I am ready to try a CM UHF fringe (60 miles) antenna on the roof, and see if I can pull KQED (30) and KGO (24) in from the Bay Area. These two stations are in full power, can register some signal on my 6000 with my Yagi in the back yard, but not enough to lock them.

Thanks Rory for your effort. NYPDB HD picture was a disappointment though.

I emailed KVIE and I was told by the end of 2002.

Mr. Walton

Thank you for writing KVIE Channel 6. Member support makes our programming

possible.

We are planning on getting digital television by the end of 2002.

Your contribution would be well appreciated, to help us continue to improve

our service into the future.

Subject: HDTV

I would like to know when KVIE will start transmitting HDTV? When will you

start a donation drive to raise money for your Digital broadcast? I would

like to contribute to that.

Hey, do any of you guys have a link or list of shows in Sac that are broadcast in HD? I'm ready to take the plunge, but want to make my investment count by having a decent selection of shows to watch.

The following was e-mailed to me.

I saw your post on the AVS forum. I've been looking at taking the dive into HDTV and have almost all of the required equipment. My question for you is about your experience with the

antenna. I live in El Dorado Hills...but I don't know if I will be able

to get OTA reception. Any ideas?
Anyone in El Dorado Hills have any suggestions?

Also see: Silver Sensor DTV antenna! WOW!

taron1,

You gave some useful links buddy. The Titan TV link gives the dates that KQCA WB channel 58 will go digital (July 1, 2002), KVIE PBS channel 6 (May 1, 2003), KMAX UPN channel 31 (May 1, 2001).

They should have their own transmitter next year. They are owned by the same people that own KCRA and are presently sharing space on KCRA's DTV channel. Of coarse that may be one reason why the basketball game had so much pixelation yesterday on 35-1.
