Need some assistance. I don't have a dedicated HTPC, but I connected my regular desktop computer to my Samsung LED DLP. My computer's video card is a Asus 1GB 250 GTS video card, with DVI output. I used a DVI to HDMI cable to TV, and I have the resolution set to the native resolution of the TV which is 1920x1080.

What happens is the whole screen is displayed except the left side, where all the desktop icons would normally be. On the far right side there is 1" of black. It is like I need to actually shift the picture to the right, but no settings for that.

I used the advanced nvidia settings to make the video card display all the way to the edges of the TV, but I still have this black bar on the right. I played with the stretch options on the TV, but nothing works.

Any ideas?

TIA,

Justin

I think I might have figured it out, I have 3 HDMI inputs on the back of my TV:

HDMI 1

HDMI 2

HDMI/DVI input

I am guessing I need to use the HDMI input that says HDMI/DVI ? I will try when I get home.

Only late serial number HL-S models have the ability do disable overscan and then it has to be done in the service menu.

All Samsung models disable overscan when you use VGA instead of DVI/HDMI. The PC chanpter of your Samsung user's manual has all of the details.

Make sure when you read the PC chapter that it lists the resolution you are using over DVI as one it will accept. The HL-S models may only accept 1080i and not 1080p over their DVI/HDMI interfaces.

You can use the Info button on the samsung remote to find out what resolution it thinks it is receiving.
