I have been using an S-Video connection from my computer to my 32" television for a long time. It is a huge convenience to be able to post this message as I sit on the sofa. Unfortunately, even with a Geforce 2 running at 800 x 600, the quality isn't really suitable for reading text at a normal font from 12 feet away.

As i was shopping for a new TV the other day, I discovered that some televisions (monitors) actually had VGA connectors on the back for a direct connection to a graphics card. Cool!! I even discovered some that were XGA capable with all the HDTV capabilities (1080i, 720p, 480p, line doubling, and TV tuner) to boot!

The problem is that these sets are relatively hard to find, and the prices are fairly high as well. Also, web searches have yielded relatively few reviews or detailed information on these sets.

Which of the following HDTV Monitors (see the link below) have you seen, and which do you recommend?

Princeton Graphic Systems, AR3.2, AR3.6 are two of my favorites at the moment. I saw Princeton's new 16:9 aspect TV at Definitive Audio and the HDTV display was definitely top notch, although a little small for my taste.

I look forward to your replies!

My RCA MM36100 is an awsome PC monitor as well as 4:3 HDTV. I got a cordless Logiteck keyboard and trackball so using the PC is a pleasure from the recliner. The trackball sits on the arm of the recliner and keyboard in my lap. I use it all the time this way. Like now http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif Anyway, when I get a TV tuner card for the PC I will also be able to watch TV in a window while on the PC. My current motherboard in the PC does not work with the WinTV card I have http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/frown.gif Anyway, once you use the PC on the big screen, there is no turning back. I run the PC in 640x480 res, 800x600 is way too small from 10' or more. I hope this helps.

I too have a RCA MM36100 (the 36110 is the newer version and has component inputs as well as RGB). Yes, it is an excellent 800 x 600 computer monitor as well as a first class TV with the best out-of-the box NTSC image I'v seen (and a near perfect "HD" image, as well). But even though it's a good monitor and an excellen digital TV, make sure that you can accomodate the required viewing distance in your TV room. You have to be fairly close to it. For it to work for me, I had to move my easy chair into the middle of my living room. Alas, my wife objected to me sitting in the middle of the living room in my easy chair. End of TV as a computer monitor for me. Cheers. Don.
