I currently have Cox analog cable and want to start viewing HDTV broadcasts. I do not want Satellite, so I have two choices - upgrade to Cox digital cable and buy their stb for $500 (or 300 Canada) or buy an OTA STB and antenna. If I go cable, then I am limited to what Cox carries - currently no WOWT, KPTM, PBS, KXVO - and I cannot receive OTA. If I go with the OTA STB, then I will not ever be able to get future cable HDTV offerings like Discovery HD and ESPNHD, because the OTA STB cannot be used with Cable.

I have been reading that the upcoming 4th generation STBs will be able to decode Cable AND receive OTA. So my question is: should I wait for these new boxes or take the plunge now?

Thank you ahead of time for any responses. I appreciate your comments.
