Hello HD Fans,

I'm looking for an HDTV RF Modulator. What I want to do is take a DVI|Component|RGB HDTV 480i/p, 720p, or 1080i signal and send it out on a RG-6 RF cable on a DTV channel. What I'm really trying to do is take the HD output from a Sony HD200 Satellite receiver send it the MyHD card. You'll note that the MyHD card doesn't have an HD video input for this. The SVideo is as close as it gets, but this obviously isn't what I want to do. I would also like to feed other TVs in the house the HD signal and the easiest way to do this would be over a standard DTV RF signal. If you know where I could get something like this, I would appreciate the information.

Thanks,

Matt

You would need to:

1) Convert the YpBpR to a professional standard serial digital signal. $3000 http://www.aja.com/hd10a.htm

2) Send that into an ATSC MPEG2 encoder. $54,000 http://www.tandbergtv.com/prodsys/co...ages/e5780.asp

3) The SPDIF audio could be sent through the encoder as is. You may need a 75 to 110 ohm AES matching transformer. $50

4) The MPEG transport stream from the encoder needs to go into an 8vsb modulator. $16,000 http://www.ktechtelecom.com/modulate.html

Now you have HDTV RF!

Why not just distribute YbPpR. Yeah, it's more cables but a whole lot cheaper and the quality will be better as it's not being re-encoded. You can use RG6, in fcat that's the best cable for long legnths. You just nees three per TV. http://www.audioauthority.com/index.html makes home distribution amplifiers

So, that's $73,050, Glimmie?

Or are there other hidden costs. :)
