Just got my Toshiba DST3000. HDTV on the LT150 is Awesome. I'm just wondering what is being used as source material. Makes me not want to buy any more DVDs because you know the HDTV DVDs are coming and this is clearly better than any DVD I have seen even when using the HTPC.

I think you mean HD DVDs, but I wouldn't count on seeing them anytime soon (based on everything I've read)!!

Yes, that is what I meant. I don't really count on seeing them soon, but where do the High Definition movies come from. Are they being played from digital tape or what?

Typically, HD movies are transferred from film to one of two digital tape formats. Sony HDCAM, and Panasonic HD D5 are the most widely used formats in the post production world.


As for HD DVD, don't expect it anytime in the near future. The only HD DVD's are prototypes at this point.
