HDTV surround sound

I purchased an ATI HDTV Wonder. I then upgraded to a 5.1/7.1 Diamond sound card. The sound card works fine when I play a dvd using VLC player. The ATI software will only play in two speaker configuration. This is what the help says.


"If no audio devices report support for non-PCM audio, only the Decode and down-mix to 2 channels selection is available."


I can't seem to get any sound card makers tech's to tell me if their cards support non-PCM audio. I don't know what to do. Can someone please help?
