Does the HDTV Wonder have problems with too hot a signal? I tried a great antenna yesterday (and forgot to shut off the inline amplifier), and my signal degraded.

I've recently built an HTPC for HDTV through an Xbox 360 (OEM Media Center 2005, HDTV Wonder, Kram drivers). HDTV signal was good with the in-the-box antenna, and better with a 15-2160 antenna from Radio Shack. It got better yet with an RCA amplifier for UHF signals, but I still had some breakup during rain & weather. SO I decided to try a bigger antenna.

Last night I installed a Channel Master 4228. This is a big directional bow tie antenna, and I expected good things. But all my channels degraded significantly, and I reinstalled the 15-2160. I forgot, however, to unplug the amplifier (+10db). OOPS.

I'm willing to try the CM 4228 again, but thought I'd ask here before climbing the chimney again. Does the HDTV Wonder have problems with too hot a signal? Might things get better if I unplug the amplifier?
