A major component of my htpc is going to be audio playback, but so far I haven't found anything that seems to fit what I want to do. At first I was going to go with a squeezebox, but that seems to have rather limited functionality for the price.
I'd much rather build a moderate htpc that can play audio, and also provide some movie/gaming experiences as well.
The only thing is, I don't want to have to use the tv coupled with the "10ft" media players to control my audio. I'm looking for some sort of music player that can run in the background and receive commands from over the network. This would allow me to control the player using my laptop/phone from the comfort of my couch, and not have to deal with a slow interface (and also allow me to leave my tv off)
Anyone have any thoughts? I'll be running win7, otherwise the music player daemon ( website ) would be perfect.
