Cheers all,

I'm in need of some sage advice from all you AVS Pros out there.

I've just moved to a new APT. in Manhattan, it's a 500sqft studio and I'm looking to outfit it with a Home Theater system that will still work well with music.

I'm torn between getting a SOUNDBAR like the YAMAHA- YSP-4100 ( which seems expensive at 1400$ ) or a traditional 5.1 set up like the ENERGY MICRO RC 5.1 Speakers...

I'd like to get a budget receiver with HDMI 1.4 connectors for future 3D support.

I'm not looking for HUGE BOOMING SOUND, and THUMPING LOW BASS...

Those living in NYC know that it's tough to crank it to 11.... most nights the dial stays at 3 or so

Anyhow - If any of you have a similar set up - or can recommend some kit - please let me know.

MANY THANKS !

Hi, thanks for the reply...

I'm looking to stay at about 1400 $ or under ...

and I'd rather keep to something underpowered than have problems with the new neighbors. I live in an old building ( 100+ years ) but the sound can still travel quickly - especially the lower frequencies.

The room is a bit smaller than 22x22 / more like 18 x 20 .

I'm only trying to fill half of that space with focused sound.

Any advice would be appreciated !

thanks
